Lawrence John Cassidy (18 April 1953 - 27 February 2010)[1][2][3] was an English musician, known for being the singer and bassist of post-punk and electronic band Section 25.

Born in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, in a family of business people who managed Casdon Toys in the town, Cassidy decided against joining the company,[4] studying law and sculpture in the south of England.[5] By the time he gained a first class degree, in 1977, inspired by punk, psychedelia and krautrock, returned to Blackpool to form his band Section 25, alongside his brother Vin on drums and Phil Denton on guitar. The band joined Factory Records in 1979 and Ian Curtis and Rob Gretton, Joy Division's singer and manager, respectively, produced their first single.

He married Jenny Ross, who joined the band shortly after the release of the first releases, and became another singer in the group. She died in 2004, by the time the band were reuniting. Section 25 continued through the years since then, adding also Larry and Jenny's daughter, Bethany, whose voice recalls that of Jenny. However, Larry Cassidy died of unknown causes on 27 February 2010, at the age of 56.
